1. Viewing guide notes
Target: Recognize the 3rd and 7th of the major chord on the neck.
Exercise:
Play the Cmaj7 chord.
Isolate and play alone E (major 3rd) e B (major 7th) in different positions.
Repeat for Fmaj7, Gmaj7, Dmaj7.
2. Add the 9th
Target: Feel the extension and how it ties into the 3rd and 7th.
Exercise:
On each chord (Cmaj7, Fmaj7, Gmaj7, Dmaj7) a small melodic cell plays 3rd → 7th → 9th.
Change direction (7th → 3rd → 9th, etc.)
3. Include the 5th
Target:Complete the base color of the agreement.
Exercise:
Build small sentences 3rd → 5th → 7th or 7rd → 5th → 9th.
Keep the tempo slow and steady, as if you were already “singing” the phrase.
4. 4-chord progression (example: CMaj7-EbMaj7-DMaj7-DbMaj7)
Exercise:
He only plays the guide notes (3rd and 7th) for each agreement.
Connect the notes with the voice leading closer
